「雲海テラス」は通常春から秋の期間のみオープンしていますが、冬の時期は「霧氷テラス」としてオープンします。「霧氷」とは、0度以下の時に、木々に付いた雲や霧の水分が冷え固まったものです。こちらでは約60%の確率で霧氷が観察できるのだとか。また、霧氷が観察できる日に行われる1日1組限定の「霧氷スノーシューツアー」も催行されています。このツアーは一般開放されていないエリアにいくことができるため、より自然を間近で感じることができます。

「霧氷テラス」からの風景は日中だけでなく、夜も楽しめます。2017年からは夜間の霧氷ライトアップが始まり、ますます幻想的な風景が見られるようになりました。ライトに照らされた霧氷はまるできらきらと輝くジュエリーのよう。運が良ければ、空気中の水蒸気が凍る時に発生する、ダイヤモンドダストも見られるかも。ただし、防寒対策は十分すぎるほどしっかりと！
